ASU to open its own medical school
A new ASU school set to open in 2026 will offer students the opportunity to earn a combined Doctor of Medicine and medical engineering degree. The programs are designed to provide a curriculum that will give future physicians the ability to work with advanced medical technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, or AI, says Professor Heather Clark, director of the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering, part of the Fulton Schools, and ASU’s senior associate dean for engineering integration. The school will provide future physicians training to give them the ability to work with AI to help make future medical and health care advances, Clark says. The new state-of-the-art medical school building is set to open in downtown Phoenix in 2028.
